WHO WE ARE
Senateens is a grassroots youth*-run political organization dedicated to getting young people involved in political campaigning and helping elect Democrats to the United States Senate in 2020. We recognize that a Democratic Senate majority is critical not only to the success of any potential Democratic president but also to the future of our nation.
*Youth= someone who is thirty-five years old or younger
WHAT WE DO
Organize. Campaign. Elect.
The Senate plays a very crucial role in our bicameral Congress, as it confirms presidential appointments and provides advice and consent to the President on these confirmations, ratifies treaties with foreign countries, serves as the prosecution in impeachment proceedings, can start investigations, has the ability to filibuster and conduct cloture votes, and most importantly, is the second pitstop of a bill in the legislative process.

Under the current 116th Congress, there are fifty-three Republicans, forty-five Democrats, and two Independents in the United States Senate. Democrats need to pick up four seats in order to gain a majority. In 2020, there are twelve Democratic senators up for reelection, and there are various vulnerable Republican seats.

Senateens will 1) defend the twelve Democratic senators up for reelection and 2) help Democrats challenge Republicans in competitive and non-competitive states. We will do this by calling, phonebanking, researching, media amplification, canvassing, registering young voters, and fulfilling the needs of the campaigns. With our remote volunteering, we seek to remove barriers for political participation for youth, especially those from lower-income backgrounds. Senateens is a volunteer-based organization, and no monetary compensation will be given for work.
